"Sharing experiences of Social development management problems and solutions from different countries can be rewarding and valuable. If we are to be effective, networking is essential for testing and learning more about natural resource management practices. I have found working as Regional Coordinator for the International Fund for social development gives me the great opportunity to visit local communities with providing facilities in different areas of Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal and to see how they have developed interventions to deal with natural resource management problems. Some things work in some places and not in others but the exciting aspect of this work is being able to act as an intermediary explaining how other communities have overcome the same problems. It is very rewarding - and challenging.
The recent debate and interest in climate change has clearly showed the need for long-term detailed information on climate - particularly hydrometeorology and its impact on natural resource management. The painstaking work carried our by all the partners over the forth years will be of great value in this regards" |
